Once the loop end of the tail is secured to a tool or anchor point, the D-ring acts as a captive hole for hassle-free tool-lanyard attachments. By allowing for seamless rotation, the swiveling mechanism helps prevent the overall tool-tethering system from getting tangled or bound up.
